Elton Joseph Godenzi

Colebrook: Elton Joseph Godenzi, Sr., 91, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, September2, 2015, at his home.  He was the beloved husband of the late Mildred F. (Carr) Godenzi, whopassed away this past February.  Born in Falls Village, CT, November 30, 1923, he was the sonof the late Adrian and Mary (Eseppi) Godenzi and has been a life-long resident of Northwest CT.Prior to his retirement, he had worked for the MDC as a heavy equipment operator for 23 years.He had also been an MP in the Army during WWII.  Elton’s survivors include his daughter,Gloria VanHorn (Donnie) of Huntington, IN; son, Elton (“Tuffy”) J. Godenzi, Jr. (Debbie) ofEverett,  WA;  step-son,  Gerald  Morton  (Laurel)  of  Woodinville,  WA;  two  sisters,  AdrianneBlumenfeld of Okeechobee, FL; Norma Spada of Colebrook; granddaughter, Shawna Godenzi;and  great-granddaughter,  Adrianna  Godenzi;  and  many  nieces  and  nephews.   He  waspredeceased by a  step-son,  George  Morton,  two brothers,  John Godenzi  and Aldo  Godenzi.Funeral services and burial with military honors will be held on Friday, September 18, 2015, at 11:00 AM, at the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, Winsted.  Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to the service.   In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the CT Chapter for Alzheimer's, 279 New Britain Road, Kensington, CT 06037.  To leave an online condolence, please visit www.maloneyfuneral.com..
