What a blessing I have had to be able to call Millie and Elton mom and dad. They made me feel a part of the family from the moment I met them. I love them as much as my own mother and father. We will miss our talks so much, mom's funny stories and caring ear, and dads funny sarcasm. They made us laugh, and love, and I feel so blessed to have known them and become a part of this family. We think of them together now and that makes us smile.
"When I must leave you, Helen Steiner Rice
for a little while,
Please do not grieve
and shed wild tears
And hug your sorrow
to you through the years,
But start out bravely
with a gallant smile;
And for my sake
and in my name
Live on and do
all things the same
Feed not your loneliness
on empty days
But fill each waking hour
in useful ways
Reach out your hand
in comfort and in cheer
And I in turn will comfort you
and hold you near;
And never, never
Be afraid to die,
For I am waiting
For you in the sky!

Elton and my dad were close friends. I'll never forget Elton - he was as strong as a bull and, at times, had the disposition to match; at least on the outside. I think he was about 75 - 80 years old and was cutting up a pile of wood when he slipped and broke his arm. He was so aggravated that he wouldn't be able to get his woodcutting done it was almost comical. He was a kind and generous man who will be dearly missed.
