Vincent G. Hunt

New Hartford:  Vincent G. Hunt, 92 passed away on Sunday, September 11, 2016, with his family by his side.  He was the husband of Geraldine (Theesfeld) Hunt and had lived in New Hartford since 1973.  Born in the Bronx, NY, August 1, 1924, he was the son of the late George and Mary Hunt.  Vincent attended local schools in NY and in 1941, joined the Navy where he served until 1945. He fought in the battles of Guadalcanal, Tarawa, Philippines, Peleliu, Leyte Gulf and Okinawa.  After the war he joined the New York City Police Department where he became a member of the Mounted Unit. He then became a private investigator and opened Hunt Investigations which he ran until he retired.   He was also a life member of VFW Post 296.  In addition to his wife of 69 years, he leaves three sons, Neil Hunt of Winsted, Carl Hunt of Roxbury, and Timothy Hunt of Colebrook; a sister, Josephine O'Rourke of Chicago, IL; eight grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren and one great great grandchild.  He was predeceased by his daughter, Alison Lukowski.  A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 16, at 12:00  Noon at Immaculate Conception Church in New Hartford.  Burial will follow in Colebrook Center Cemetery in Colebrook.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the DAV, P.O.
