Thomas “Tommy” Christopher Obst of Winsted, CT passed away at the age of 47 on Sunday, November 15th, 2020. Tom was a generous, kind, protective and loving son, brother, nephew, uncle and friend to many. Tom is survived by his loving parents Kenneth and Margaret Obst, his brother James, his sister Theresa and her husband Fernando, his sister Karen, and many loving aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He loved his family dearly and was deeply loved by them. Tom was born on September 22, 1973, graduated from The Gilbert School in 1991 and was the captain of the football team. He later graduated from Central Connecticut State University with a degree in Business Administration.
Tom had a talent for business, loved cars, and had an entrepreneurial spirit. He started his own auto wholesale company and ran it successfully for many years. He liked nothing better than to share what he had with his family and those he loved, whether it was an afternoon at the lake, a trip to New York City at Christmastime or the offer of a ride home at the end of the night. A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, November 20, 2020 from 4:00 - 7:00 PM at Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, Winsted. Following the CDC guidelines for social distancing, Masks are required, only allowing a small amount of people in to see the family at a time. If you are not feeling well, please stay home. Services followed by a mass of Christian burial on Saturday, November 21, 2020 at 10:00 AM at St. Peter’s church in Torrington. In lieu of flowers, donations in Tommy’s name to St. John Paul the Great Academy in Torrington, CT would be most appreciated. He will be truly missed by all those who loved him.
