Winsted, Samuel Joseph Demonstranti, 90, passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022, at Mid-State Medical Center in Meriden. He was the husband of 62 years, of the late Mary Theresa (Green) Demonstranti who moved on to heaven in 2015. Born in Winsted, March 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Frank and Pauline (Tobacco) Demonstranti, he had lived in Winsted all of his life. After school, Sam joined the Army and served during the Korean War. After the war, he came home and started his own business as a builder. This was the work that he cherished for the next 70 years. He kept busy building many new buildings and fixing the old all throughout the town. He was happiest when he was busy, enjoyed his home on Highland Lake and loved spending time with his grandchildren. His survivors include two daughters, Theresa Demonstranti of New London and Francene Demonstranti of Winsted; a brother, Salvatore Demonstranti of Stuart, FL; and four grandchildren, Brian Wyncoop, Christine Stebbins, Anna Morgana, Jeffery Messenger and five great grandchildren. He was predeceased by four brothers, Paul, Frank, Benjamin and Joseph Demonstranti and two sisters, Mildred Gage and Josephine Bonzanni. A funeral mass is being held on Wednesday, April 13, 2022, at 10:00am. At the St. Joseph's Church in Winsted followed by burial with military honors at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, Winsted is in charge of arrangements.
