Winsted: Neil Vincent Hunt, 72, passed away on Sunday, June 14, 2020, following a lengthy illness. He was the husband of Joanne (Masterbone) Hunt for the past 17 years. Born in the Bronx, NY, he was the son of Geraldine (Theesfeld) Hunt of South Windsor, CT and the late Vincent G. Hunt. Neil attended grammar school in the Bronx and while living in Colebrook he graduated at Regional #7. He entered the Navy after high school. After his enlistment ended, he went in the Army. While in the service, he taught logistics and tactics at the Hartford Armory and for the Hartford Police Dept. After 38 years in the armed forces, he retired with the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. After his military time took some college courses, he and his father started Hunt Investigations, a company they worked at for several years. Neil also worked at his remodeling and restorations business, primarily doing decks and roofing. He loved all animals, especially his dogs and riding his horse, "Foxy", hunting for elk in Colorado, doing smoke and grill cooking, he enjoyed buying old tractors, cars and trucks and working on his farm. He loved sampling different kinds of international food from different restaurants, whether it be German, Indian, Mexican, Japanese, etc. it didn't matter, he loved it all. Neil also enjoyed reading books, particularly, murders and mysteries, working on his computer, camping and old country and easy listening music. He was also the commander of VFW Post 296 in Winsted for the past 28 years. In addition to his loving wife of 17 years and his mother, he is survived by a son, Patrick N. Hunt; one daughter, Laura Lee Hunt and step daughter Christina Scott Teaman; three step-sons, Steven Boles, Kyle Del Rossi and Joseph (Willow) Scott; two brothers, Carl Hunt and Timothy Hunt; six grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves his right-hand friend, Kathrina Wilbert. He was predeceased by a sister, Alison Lukowski. Graveside services will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2020, at 11:00 AM, at Colebrook Center Cemetery in Colebrook, CT. There are no calling hours.
