Winchester Center: Joan Arlene Campi, 83, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2021, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of Domenic Paul Campi. Born in Bristol, CT, March 13, 1938, she was the daughter of the late Royal and Arlene (Parsons) Woolley. She was a direct descendant of John Alden. She had attended local schools and was a graduate of the Bristol High School. Prior to her retirement, she had worked in the cafeteria at The Gilbert School where she had worked for 36 years cooking and baking and later picked up cake decorating, specializing in wedding, sports and theme cakes. This was an art she enjoyed for the rest of her life. She also enjoyed chair canning and taught both hobbies at the local high schools and college for years. Joan was also a member of Winchester Center Grange a golden sheaf for fifty years where she served as Treasurer for 14 years. She also enjoyed sudoku puzzles and vacations on Martha's Vineyard. In addition to her husband Dominic of 63 years, she is survived by her son, Paul (Carrie) Campi of Westbrook, CT; a daughter in law, Andrea Campi of Winsted; a grandson, Michael Campi of Westbrook; and a sister, Normajean (David) Lozinski of Bristol. She was predeceased by her brother, Douglas Woolley and a sister, Lois Suydam, several nieces, nephews and few cousins. She also leaves her beloved cat “Tara”. A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 13, 2021, at 11:00 AM. At St. Joseph Church in Winsted. There are no calling hours. Burial will follow in Winchester Center Cemetery.
