Gilda Bongiovanni

Winsted: Gilda (Fasciano) Bongiovanni 95, passed away peacefully on October 29, 2022. Gilda was born September 17, 1927, in Torrington, CT to Leborio and Palma (DiGioacchino) Fasciano.  She grew up and attended local schools in Torrington, CT and attended the Hartford School of Hairdressing and Cosmetology in Hartford, CT.

Gilda was a Hair Dresser for 48 years, working in various salons in Torrington and Winsted.  She owned her own business, Gilda's Beauty Salon in Winsted for 16 years before her retirement.  She was a member of the Winsted Senior Center, Italian American Women's Club and volunteered as a receptionist at the Litchfield   County Hospital in Winsted, CT.  She was a dedicated communicant of St. Joseph Church in Winsted, CT. 

Gilda was "Nonni" to her many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren which she cherished and always loved spending time with.  Birthdays and Holidays were special to her by celebrating with the family. 

Gilda is survived by her daughters, Donna Marie Alfano and Sallyann (John) Wesolowski,  her beloved grandchildren, Vincent (Karla) Bongiovanni, Michele Bushey, Richard (Tracey) Bushey III, Brandy (Duane) Blische, Jeremiah (Heather) Bushey.  Her great grandchildren, Vito Bongiovanni, Michael Humphrey,  Marissa, Jacob, and Nicholas Knight, Richard Bushey IV, Brittany, Nathan, Duane, Curtiss, Morgan, and Makenna Blische, Grace, Jeremiah, Jr., and Raegan Bushey,  her great-great grandchildren, Jameson Michaud, Samson Humphrey, Madaline Blische, Nia and Beau Brown. 

Gilda was predeceased by her husband, Salvo Bongiovanni, her son, and daughter in law, Carmine and Barbara Bongiovanni, her brothers, Leo, Phil, and Joe Fasciano and her sister, Mary Calabrese.

A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, November 11, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Winsted.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph new Cemetery in Winsted.  In lieu of flowers, Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital (www.stjude.org), 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN  38105-9959 or St. Joseph Church at 31 Oak Street, Winsted, CT 06098. Maloney Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
