George Joseph Gagne'

Barkhamsted:  George Joseph Gagne' passed away unexpectedly at his home on January 31, 2022, at the age of 71.  He was born on June 1, 1950 to Germaine (LeBlond) and Pamphile Gagne'.  He had lived here all of his life.  George attended local schools and had graduated from Northwestern Regional #7 in 1968.  He began serving in the U.S. Air Force as an Aircraft mechanic for 4 years.  Immediately after the military, he attended NCCC for 2 years and later the University of CT where he received his Bachelors degree.  He worked as a surveyor for several years and also the Hartford Post Office where he retired at the age of 62.  He continued his seasonal job with Peoples State Forest in Pleasant Valley, while farming and taking care of his animals and hunting on the farm until his death.  His survivors include five siblings, Lorraine DiMartino of Winsted, Murielle (Chris) Kirsch of Barkhamsted, Lionel Gagne' and Marcel Gagne' both of Winsted and LtCol. Lise Gagne' of Gig Harbor, WA. And several nieces and nephews.  Funeral services will be on  Wednesday, June 1, 2022 at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church.  burial will follow at St. Joseph New Cemetery with full military honors.   Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut St., Winsted is in charge of arrangements.
