Eugene Paul Schmitt

Winsted:  Eugene Paul Schmitt, 81, husband of Jo Ann (Lawson) Schmitt, died on Thursday, February 9, 2023, at St. Marys Hospital in Waterbury, following a short illness.  He was born in Torrington, April 26, 1941, the son of the late William Paul and Amelia (Mitchell) Schmitt, he had lived here all of his life.  He had attended local schools, worked at several factories & retired from Stop & Shop.   He loved the cars of the 50's and 60's and also enjoyed teaching his family how to drive those cars with the stick shift.  He also enjoyed music of that era, his nieces and nephews and the companionship of his favorite cat.  In addition to his loving wife of over 50 years, he is survived by a sister, Carol Ann Bottass of Torrington, and several nieces and nephews.  Committal services in Forest View Cemetery will be held in the spring.
