Donald Alexander Whitman, Jr.

New Hartford, Donald A. Whitman, Jr. passed away on December 31, 2021, after a brief illness.  He was born in Winsted on January 1, 1957.  Don was predeceased by his father, Donald A. Whitman, Sr. and his mother Laurette Marquis Whitman.  Left to cherish his memories are his daughters, Sharon Capak, her husband Mark Capak of Winsted and Michelle Whitman, Her partner Dylan Siebert of Winsted, and his precious granddaughter Kilynn who he shared a special bond with and was fondly known as “pop-pop”.  He is also survived by his brother Jeffrey Whitman of Vermont.  He also leaves behind many of his friends including Teressa, Steve, Paul and close family.  Don was an avid licensed gun and knife collector.  He lived his life to the fullest with his many hobbies which included riding his Harley Davidson, hiking new trails, and trying out new recipes for his family and friends.  Don will be remembered for his smile and sense of humor.  He was passionate about learning new things.  Don was president of Francis B. Whitman & Son and was the third generation in the family business.  Calling hours are scheduled for Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 noon.
