Winsted: Delma Phelps (Decsi) Perry, Passed away on Thursday November 7, 2019. Born October 18, 1929 in Winsted, she was the daughter of the late Albert & Florence Decsi, Mr. Decsi being the pharmacist & owner of the Opera House Pharmacy in Winsted for 50 years making Delma a life-long resident of Winsted. She graduated from The Gilbert School, Class of 1947. She went on to study at Goucher College in Towson, MD where she earned a Bachelor's of Science Degree in Physiology & Bacteriology, Class of 1951. Delma volunteered at the elementary schools, the public library and was a substitute teacher before taking a job with the State of CT where she worked for twenty years as senior investigator at the Bureau of Child Support Enforcement. She was a very selfless person especially when it came to her children & grandchildren. She saw to their individual needs and did her best to help provide the means to satisfy those needs. She is survived by a son Richard A Perry, daughters Ellen Perry Pyle (Earl) and Marsha Perry; four grandchildren, Richard A Perry (Kathy), Christopher Perry (Rachel), Megan Pyle Uhlemann (Jacob), & Trevor Pyle; Five great grandchildren, Richard & Kathy's twin sons Donovan & Gabriel & daughter Guinevere and Chris & Rachel's sons, Jacob & Zachary & her nephew David Strecker (Sarah), brother-in-law John Perry (Margaret) & nephew John Perry & niece Karen Morhbeck. She was predeceased by her husband Richard A. Perry in 2000; a sister, Jean Decsi Strecker, in 1971; a nephew, Scott D. Strecker, in 2013 and brother- in-law Arthur Strecker in 2016. A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at 11:00AM, at the Second Congregational Church of Winsted, 800 Main Street, the church she was baptized in and a lifelong member. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Beardsley & Memorial Library, 40 Monro Street, Winsted 06098.
