Barbara J. DiMartino

Torrington, Barbara J. DiMartino passed away peacefully in her sleep on September 4, 2021, at Valerie Manor in Torrington. Born June 15, 1931 in Hartford to Leo and Agnes (Moriarty) Scheidel, she lived most of her life in Winsted. Barbara enjoyed taking the bus to the casino, shopping and visiting her friends. She was a NY Yankee fan and enjoyed watching UConn men and women’s basketball. But mostly her whole life revolved around her children and then her grandchildren, who she absolutely adored. She attended every school, sport or other events any of them had going on and loved the holidays. She is survived by daughters, Diane (George) Ransom, Deborah (Thomas) Perry, Doreen (Alex) Alicea and sons, Donald (Cathy) DiMartino and David DiMartino. Seven grandchildren: Todd (Heather)Ransom,
Darren Ransom, Michael (Jennifer) Ransom, Justin (Melissa) Root, Cody (April) Stone, Cassidy and Colin Stone, and five great-grandchildren; Derek and Kaylee Ransom, Grace Guerrera, and Scarlet and Lincoln Stone, one sister, Eleanor Brazee of Deltona Florida, one sister in law, Alice Scheidel, Middletown, and many nieces and nephews.  She was predeceased by her brothers, Raymond Scheidel, Leo Scheidel and Gerald Scheidel and her sisters, Jean Kramer, Mary Orie and Norma Scheidel. Funeral services will be held at Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, Winsted, CT on Monday, September 13, 2021 at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in St. Joseph New Cemetery. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 10:00 AM until the time of service. Memorial contributions may be made to CT Chapter for Alzheimers  279 New Britain Road, Kensington, CT 06037.  The family would like to extend their thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff at Valerie Manor, who went above and beyond in their care and compassion for Mom during her stay there.
