Adele Groppo Kellogg Obituary

Adele Groppo Kellogg, beloved mother and grandmother, formerly of Winsted, CT, died peacefully at home in Ringoes, NJ on December 13, 2021, surrounded by her cherished family.

Born on January 15, 1947 in Winsted, CT, Adele was the only child of the late Julio and Dorothy (Ferry) Groppo. Graduating from Gilbert High School in Winsted, CT in 1965, Adele attended Endicott College and graduated with a degree in Retail Merchandizing in 1967.  She married Daniel C. Kellogg in 1972 and they were married for 12 years.

Adele believed in leaving the world a better place than how she found it through caring and cultivating.  She recognized that knowledge and experience were the keys to success, and was a proponent for all her family members achieving both real-world and academic successes.

She was an extraordinary caregiver and both honored and cared for her parents, aunt and uncle at the end of their lives.  She brought that same passion for caregiving when she moved to New Jersey and helped raise and nurture her grandchildren, passing along beautiful family traditions and knowledge. She used her love of cooking and baking as a tool to teach resilience and perseverance, and by following the recipe with these ingredients, and sprinkling the end product with much love, anyone could achieve sweet success.

Adele’s love of animals, whether it be her horses that had a special part of her heart from an early age, or her beloved Cane Corsos, demonstrated how she treated all things with love, dignity and respect. She was a Groppo certified master gardener and cultivated far more than just the earth by growing beautiful flowers, fruits and vegetables to nourish her friends and family.

She worked in print advertising for several local publications in northwestern Connecticut for many years prior to her retirement. Adele used action as a means of educating others, actively volunteering and supporting local government organizations and environmental causes.

Though she will be missed by all who felt her love and were guided by her wisdom, her legacy will surely live on in the generations to come that learned from the best!

Besides her parents, Adele was preceded in death by many members of her large and extended family.

Surviving are a son and daughter-in-law, Christopher D. and Dorothea S. Kellogg; her grandchildren Daniel F. Kellogg and Elizabeth A. Kellogg; and a large extended family of beloved Groppo cousins.

Adele will lie in repose on Sunday, December 19, 2021 from Noon-1:30 p.m. in the Chapel of Wright & Ford Family Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 38 State Highway 31, Flemington, NJ.
