Torrington. Marilyn B. Gayer (Bevington), 83, of Torrington, beloved wife of Richard J. Gayer, passed away peacefully on Saturday (September 29, 2018) at Hartford Hospital, after a long illness. Marilyn was born in the Canal Zone, Panama, on June 22, 1935 and was the daughter of the late Boyd and Joyce (Bell) Bevington. She was raised in the Canal Zone, graduating from Balboa High School. She worked for the Panama Canal Commission, headed cheerleading for the Balboa Rams, she had a passion for reading, loved to dance, and spend time with her adoring dogs. She retired in 1984 to Torrington, CT and went to work for the Torrington Company for approximately 5 years until she retired again. In addition to her loving husband, Marilyn is survived by four children: Richard K. Gayer and wife, Diana, of Florida; Cheri A. Burke and husband, Robert, of Florida: 3 grandchildren, Shavon, Sheena and Dalton; Valerie J. Hayden and husband, Richard, of Connecticut: 2 grandchildren, Michael and Kevin; Steven B. Gayer of Florida; her only sibling: Boyd Bevington Jr. and wife, Lucille, of California; and three great-grandchildren.
