Jean Alsie (Hayden) Frink

March 20, 1928 ~ August 5, 2017 (age 89) 89 Years Old


   Jean Alsie (Hayden) Frink died peacefully at Geer Nursing Home on Saturday, August 5, 2017.  She was predeceased by her husband Raymond E. Frink.  Jean was born in Great Barrington, MA on March 20, 1928, daughter of the late Watson and Ethel (Whitney) Hayden.  After graduating from Housatonic Valley Regional High School in 1946 she continued on to the Waterbury Hospital School of Nursing where she graduated in 1949.  She was employed  at Winsted Memorial Hospital and began her career as a Registered Nurse in the maternity ward and continued Working until she retired in the spring of 1989.

     Jean was a devoted member of the United Methodist Church in Winsted where she used her incredible voice in the choir every Sunday.  She had a passion for music, baking, knitting and needle point.  She made numerous knitted Christmas stockings for family and friends as well as many cakes for events such as weddings and birthdays.

     Jean’s greatest joy in life was her family and friends, especially coffee with Lois. She is survived by her two sons, Keith Frink and his wife Nancy, Robert Frink and his wife Jeannine both of Colebrook and one daughter Ruth Layton and her husband Michael of Winsted. She also leaves her cherished three grandchildren, Kelley and her husband David Conley of Groton, MA, Jamie and her husband Christopher Snyder of Riverton, CT and Jeremiah Beach of CA, as well as her two dear great grandchildren James Conley and Caroline Conley, as well as her friend Ruth Lowndes of Rhode Island. Jean is predeceased by her brother Watson Hayden, Jr. and sister Florence Lovett. She also leaves behind her beloved miniature dachshund, Dotsie.

     The Frink family would like to extend their sincere gratitude for the exceptional care Jean received as a resident at Geer Nursing. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. At the Winsted United Methodist Church, 630 Main Street, Winsted, CT 06098.
