Hazel J. Nanni

Hazel J. Nanni (Jones), 83, of Winsted CT. passed away peacefully at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital on February 4, 2019.  Hazel was born on April 11, 1935 in Wethersfield CT.  She was the daughter of the late Clayton H. Jones and Hazel Jones (Blodgett).
At an early age Hazel moved with her parents to Winsted where she graduated from The Gilbert School in 1953. After high school she worked for The Hartford Insurance Company as an administrative assistant.  Soon after, she met her husband of 58 years, Richard Nanni.  In 1971 they moved to Colebrook CT.  Hazel prided herself on decorating and furnishing the 1828 Victorian that Richard had fully restored.  She especially loved decorating for Christmas and finding the “just right” antique.
Hazel is predeceased by her husband, Richard and her beloved daughter, Adrianne, age 10. She is survived by sons Gregg Nanni and his wife, Kirsten, of West Hartford, Jay Nanni and his wife Lisa, of New Hartford.   Her brothers in-law Bernie Nanni (Bunny) of Barkhamsted, Paul Nanni of Winsted, She was predeceased by her brother Robert Shimled of Torrington, Ted Jones of Farmington, Clayton Jones who was killed in action in World War ll and sister in-law Charlotte Nanni.
She is also survived by her four grandchildren Sam, Eli, Lia and Jenna.  Hazel also leaves several loving nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend their sincerest gratitude to Paul Nanni, Donna and John Feathers, Lydia Jones DiPietro Eversole, Ashley and Elizabeth Bass for their devotion, love and limitless desire to help.
A celebration of life will be held on February 23rd 10:30am, at the First Church of Winsted, 95 North Main St, Winsted CT. Burial will be held at a time to be determined this spring.
