Ersilia Margaret (Biasi) Rovero

Litchfield:  Ersilia (Celia) M. (Biasi) Rovero, age 100, entered into eternal life on Saturday, November 9, 2019, at Brandywine Senior Living in Litchfield, CT, surrounded by her loving family.  Celia, as her friends knew her, was born on November 5, 1919, in Montebello, Italy, to the late Giuseppe and Elisabetta (Marcolongo) Biasi.  She emigrated from Italy to the United States as a very young child and resided in northwestern Litchfield County, CT, for over nine decades.  For many years, Celia was an employee of Danfield Thread, where she worked alongside many lifelong friends.  She was an active member of the Italian-American Women’s Club, St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, and McCarthy Senior Center, all in Winsted, CT.  At the senior center, you could regularly find her playing cards with her friends, one of her favorite pastimes.  She also enjoyed gameshows and Western-themed movies.  However, her greatest passions, much to the delight of all who knew her, were cooking and baking.  Her homemade pastas were legendary and her from-scratch soups, particularly Minestrone, were iconic.  She is survived by her three sons and their wives, Anthony and Pam Rovero of Tucson, AZ, Dominic and Rose Rovero of Torrington, CT, and Michael and Linda Rovero of Torrington, CT; grandsons David of Kent, CT, Timothy of Torrington, CT, Christopher of Miami, FL, and Anthony and Dominic of Tucson, AZ; granddaughter Janeen of Tucson, AZ; honorary grandson Luis of Tucson, AZ; great-grandchildren Kirsten and Tyler of Torrington, CT, Kurtis and Owen of Torrington, CT, Aaron and Ryan of Tucson, AZ; and several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews, and even some great-great-grandnieces and great-great-grandnephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Dominic J. Rovero, and her brother, Gino A. Biasi. Calling hours are from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 13, 2019, at Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, Winsted, CT.  A mass of Christian burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, November 14, 2019, at St. Joseph’s Roman Catholic Church, Route 44, Winsted, CT.  Interment will follow at St. Joseph’s Cemetery (New), Route 183 Winsted, CT.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Brandywine Senior Living, LLC.  19 Constitution Way, Litchfield, CT 06759.
