Winsted: Celeste (Dombrowski) Parsons, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, April 30, 2019, with her family by her side. She was the wife of the late Philip J. Parsons who died in 2011. Born in Winsted on September 26, 1936, she was the daughter of the late Stanley J. and Rose (Pagliarelo) Dombrowski and had lived in Winsted for most of her life. She was a communicant of St. Joseph Church, had attended local schools and was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1954. She worked at Thomaston-Midtown Screw Machine Products, Inc. for over 50 years. She began there as a secretary and climbed the ladder to the top. At the time of her death, she was the company President and co-owned the business with her son, Walter Hayward. She enjoyed bowling in her younger years, sitting at a camp fire with her family, dancing to and singing country western songs. She loved spending time with her grandchildren, making their holidays special. She was a good cook and her recipe book will be a family treasure. She was an accomplished artist doing oil paintings of flowers, landscapes, waterfalls and portraits. She was an avid sports fan of UCONN Women's Basketball, the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots. In her later years, she enjoyed working in her yard and planting flowers. She is survived by her children, Walter Hayward and his wife Sue of Torrington, Duane Hayward and his loving life partner, Kathy VanDeusen of Torrington; two sisters: Sylvia Streitweiser of Guilford, Barbara O'Neill of NC; seven grandchildren, Selene, Tiffani, Jeffrey, Dylan, Erin, Kimberly and Duane; three children she loved as grandchildren: Jason, Sara and Evan VanDeusen. In addition, she had one great grandchild, CJ (Charles), son of Selene and Charles Casella of Harwinton, as well as several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind her loving canine companion, Dollie, who was always at her side. Celeste was predeceased by her brother Stanley Dombrowski, Jr. and two sisters: Rosemary Cogliati and Dale Groppo. Friends may call at the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut St, Winsted, from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, May 7, 2019. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Wednesday, May 8, 2019 at 11:00 am at St. Joseph Church, 31 Oak St, Winsted. Burial will be in St. Joseph (new) Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
