Thomas Edward Santoro

Winsted: Thomas E. Santoro, 80, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2015, after a lingering illness. He was the husband of Mildred "Millie" (Carrozzo) Santoro. Born in Winsted, August 9, 1934, he was the son of the late Salvatore and Philomena (Barber) Santoro and had lived here all of his life. Prior to his retirement, he had worked for Waring Products for 20 years and most recently for the State of CT. Tom was an Air Force Veteran of the Korean War where he served as a translator. He was a graduate of The Gilbert School and from Bryant College. He had served as a selectman for the Town of Winchester from 1967-1977, member of the Knights of Columbus, Torrington Elks #372, Sons of Italy and the Garibaldi Society. In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by two sons, Thomas (Judith) Santoro of Winsted and Michael (Diane) Santoro of Torrington; a daughter, Gina Santoro of Winsted; a sister, Ann Aust of Winsted; seven grandchildren, Nicole, Joel, Kendra, Dana, Ross, Bridie and Kyle; a dear friend, Sylvia Dailey and two life long friends, Louis and Frank Venezia.
