Thomas Francis Fulop, Sr.

Torrington:  Thomas Francis Fulop, Sr. 82, passed away on Tuesday, January 12, 2016, at Valerie Manor in Torrington, following a courageous battle with Parkinson's disease.  He was the husband of Helen (Mellas) Fulop.  Born in Torrington, October 24, 1933, he was the son of the late John and Ruth (Douyard) Fulop.  Prior to his retirement, he had been an engineer for the Smith Gates Co., formerly of Farmington, for over 20 years.  He was a graduate of Torrington High School, class of 1951 and received his bachelor's degree from the University of Hartford in 1972.  He was also a past president of the Winsted Lions Club.  In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, he is survived by two sons, Thomas F. Fulop, Jr. of Mansfield, CT and Mark P. Fulop of Portland, OR; a daughter, Mary C. Freeman of Lynfield, MA; a brother, Roger Fulop of Pleasanton, OR; two sisters, Betty Holloway of Warwick, RI and Doris Franufhofer of MO; nine grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  He was predeceased by a son, Michael P. Fulop.  A memorial mass will be held at St. Joseph Church in Winsted on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at 11:00 AM.  Burial will be at the convenience of the family.  There are no calling hours.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Parkinson Disease Association CT Chapter, P.O.
