Theodore "Deedo" Vaill, Jr.

Colebrook:  Theodore "Deedo" Vaill, Jr. 87, passed away on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, at Hartford Hospital following a short illness.  He was the husband of Ruth (Babich) Vaill.  Born in Washington, DC, March 11, 1928, he was the son of the late Theodore Vail and the late Alice (Griffin) Reidy.  He had lived in the Colebrook area most of his life.  Prior to his retirement, he had worked at Highland Hardware in Winsted for 25 years and previously for the State Highway Dept for 15 years.  He had attended Hargrave Military Academy in VA as well as The Gilbert School in Winsted.  He was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1946-1947 then again from 1949-1953.  As a S/Sgt he was stationed in Japan, Okinawa and Korea.  He served with the 90th FABN, 22 AAA Battalion and the 4th Signal Battalion.  He was a member of the Colebrook Lions Club where he served as its President and Secretary.  He was a Board member of The Foothills Visiting Nurse, where he served on the Board of Directors.  In addition to his loving wife, he is survived by two daughters, Mary-Susan Vaill of Torrington and Katie Vaill and her companion Keith Sleeper of Norfolk; also two stepdaughters; a brother, Stephen (Sandra) Vaill of Winsted; a brother-in-law, George Manchester of Winsted; a grandson, Dr. Tyler Vaill Franconi and his companion Dr. Candace Rice of Edinburgh, Scotland, three step-grandsons, several nieces, nephews and great nieces & nephews.  He was predeceased by a daughter, Elizabeth in 1963 and a sister, Judith V. Manchester.  There are no funeral services or calling hours and his remains will be scattered on Pemaquid Point, ME.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Foothills Visiting Nurse and Home Care, Inc. 32 Union Street, Winsted, 06098, or to any animal shelter or animal cause of the donor's choice.  To leave an online condolence, please visit www.maloneyfuneral.com.
