June M. Counihan

Winsted:  June M. Counihan of Winsted, CT entered into eternal rest on December 26, 2015.  She was 96 years old and lived at home until most recently.  June had a wonderful, long life and loved her family dearly.  She was the loving wife for 37 years of the late John E. Counihan who died in 1983.  She was born on June 21, 1919 and was the daughter of Anthony and Grace Temple.

June was a very spiritual person with a special devotion to Mary.  Although she was housebound for the past few years, she continued to enhance the lives of family, friends and caregivers.  June was especially generous with those she loved. She was a terrific cook and homemaker.

She is survived by son Michael J. Counihan and his fiance', Irene Oliver of Massachusetts; daughter Dr. Judith A. Palmer, husband Joseph of Winsted, CT, their son John Palmer, wife Nicole of New Hartford, CT and Matthew Palmer of Honolulu, HI; stepson James Counihan, wife Margaret of Massachusetts and their children Timothy, Kathryn, Patricia and Ann; stepdaughter Dr. Patricia Martin and her children Lori Koplar, husband Gary and son Cody, and Michelle Martin and her daughter Trisha of FL.

She leaves behind her loving siblings, Phyllis Piscatello and husband Joseph of Manchester, CT; brother Anthony Temple and wife Nancy of South Windsor, CT; brother Robert Temple and wife Kathryn of Manchester, CT; and sister Louisa Harvey and her husband Richard of East Hartford, CT.  She also leaves behind many nieces and nephews.
