Joyce Louise Woodard

Winsted: Joyce L. Woodard, 82, passed away on Saturday, April 4, 2015 at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington, following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Joel D. Woodard who died in 2004. Born in Hartsville, MA, February 8, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Ralph and Hazel (Wells) Chamberlin and had spent most of her life in Winsted. She was a graduate of New Marlboro High School, and was member of The First Church of Winsted. Prior to her retirement, she had worked for Grants, Kings, and Ames Dept Stores and retired from the Foothills Visiting Nurse as a home health aide. Joyce's survivors include her children, Don (Natalie) Woodard of Feeding Hills, MA, Sandy (Roger) Hart of Lenox, MA, Tina (David) Cruden of Winsted and Joanne Forbes; two sisters, Nancy Perugini of Southington and Betty Whitcomb of FL; 7 grandchildren, Jana Bush, Chad Cruden, George McBreairty, Hali, Briana and Justin Stankimas/Woodard and Tammy Anderson; 9 great grandchildren, Travis and Owen Bush, Skyy and Jayden Cruden, Averee Stankimas, Abbey Anderson and Alexis, Joel and Robert McBreairty. She was predeceased by three brothers, Robert, Glen and Richard Chamberlin. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 AM at the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, Winsted, With the Rev. Michael Wu, Pastor of the 1st Church of Winsted officiating. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Friends may call at the funeral home one hour prior to services. The family would like to thank specifically the nursing staff at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital and a special thanks to Ashley Cruden for always being there for Joyce.
