John A/ Fiori

Canton:  John A. Fiori, 88, passed away on Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at Cherry Brook Healthcare Center in Canton, following a lengthy illness.  He was the husband of the late Rose (Catinelli) Fiori who died in 2012.  Born in Pittsfield, MA, February 23, 1927, he was the son of the late Anthony and Rose (Calabrese) Fiori and had lived in the New Hartford area since 1952.  Prior to his retirement, he had been a self-employed trucker.  He was a Navy Veteran of WW II, having been awarded the WWII Victory Medal, the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with 3*, the American Theater Campaign Ribbon, the China Occupation Medal with 4 bronze*, Phillipine Liberation Medal, the Navy Citation, Presidential Unit Citation and the CT Wartime Service Medal.  John's survivors include three children, John A. Fiori, Jr., Barbara Fiori both of Winsted and Gayle Monteleone Fiori of Avon; a brother, Edward Fiori of Enfield; six grandchildren and several nieces & nephews.  Funeral services will be held on Saturday, December 12, at 11:00 AM at the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, Winsted.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph new Cemetery.  Friends and family may call at the funeral home from 10:00 AM prior to the service.  To leave an online condolence, please go to www.maloneyfuneral.com.
