Joan K. Jarvis

Winsted: Joan K. Jarvis, 82, passed away on Thursday, March 12, 2015, at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington following a lengthy illness. She was the wife of the late Robert S. Jarvis who died in 2006. Born in Torrington, October 4, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Phillip and Julia (Petrovits) Kwas and had lived in Winsted most of her life. Prior to her retirement, she had worked at the Torrington Company and at Holiday Handicraft until it closed. She was a graduate of the Torrington High School, class of 1950 and a communicant of St. Joseph Church in Winsted. Her survivors include two sons, Glenn Jarvis and his wife Barbara of Watertown, Tim Jarvis and his wife Karen of Barkhamsted; five granddaughters, Jennylynn (Scott) Thibodeau, Alison, (Jesse) Zeininger, Katie, (Ranjan) Mukhopadhyay, Michelle Jarvis and her fiance' Matt Pellowski and Erin Guzowski and her friend Brent Patenge; two great grandchildren, Roselyn Zeininger, Lucas Zeininger and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Margaret Matulewicz. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, 10:30 AM from the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street, to St. Joseph Church for the funeral liturgy at 11:00 AM Burial will take place in the spring. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday morning from 9:30-10:30.
