Winsted: Janice Evelyn Jasmin, 77, passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015, at Litchfield Woods Health Care Center in Torrington. She was the wife of the late Charles Jasmin who died in 2004. Born in Winsted, July 31, 1937, she was the daughter of the late Dominic “Nonnie” and Evelyn (Fitzgerald) Bruno, and had lived here all of her life. Prior to her retirement, she and her husband Charlie had managed the family grocery store, (Bruno’s Market) until it closed, and she also managed the “Knit Shop” with her mother. Janice will always be remembered for performing acts of kindness for anyone who became part of her life. She had knitted hundreds of hats for the homeless and for children for many years which were donated to several organizations for those in need. Jan and Charlie were also known for delivering meals and cookies to shut-ins at the holidays. She was a graduate of The Gilbert School, class of 1955 and was a devout parishioner of St. Joseph Church.
