Suffield, CT: Helen M. Dewey, 92, formerly of Winsted, passed away on Friday, March 25, 2016, at the Suffield House in Suffield following a lengthy illness.  She was the wife of the late Arthur G. Dewey who died in 1995.  Born in Torrington, January 4, 1924, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Lydia (Ast) Dautrich and had lived in the Torrington-Winsted area most of her life.  Helen studied music at Columbia in NYC, and sang in the choir at Winsted United Methodist Church for 25 years.  She also audited art classes at NWCC in Winsted for several years, fine tuning her natural skills in painting. She belonged to the Torrington Art League, was also a volunteer at the Beardsley & Memorial Library in Winsted and the Riverton Fair.  Her survivors include her children, two sons, Arthur Dewey of Canton, Peter Dewey and his wife Esther of Fitchburg, MA; two daughters, Carol Kniep and her husband Richard of Enfield and Laurel Brennan and her husband Owen of Uniontown, OH; three grandchildren, Michael and Matthew Kniep and Sharon Nozik; three great grandchildren, Alyssa, Hayden and Bohdi Kniep.  She was predeceased by three sisters, Dorothy Weber, Margaret Geddes and Evelyn Stetson; and a brother, Henry Dautrich.  Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 30, at 3:00 PM at the First Assembly of God Church, 387 New Harwinton Road, Torrington.  Burial will be in Torringford Cemetery.  Friends may call at the Maloney Funeral Home, 55 Walnut Street, Winsted, on Tuesday, 4-7PM.  The family wishes to thank all the caring staff of the Suffield House and the St. Francis Hospital Congestive Heart Failure wing for their compassionate care.
