Harriss David Weiss

Harriss David Weiss, 47, Winsted, CT:
Harriss Weiss formerly of Norwalk, CT died on Aug 2nd from complications of ALS.
Harriss attended local schools and graduated from Norwalk High School in 1987.  He
was employed as an Intervention Aide by the Norwalk Board of Education. Harriss spent
the last nine years at Tracey Elementary School where he was loved for his patience,
understanding and incredible sense of humor. Harriss loved the great outdoors. He
enjoyed fishing, gardening, hiking, playing golf but his greatest love were his two
daughters, Laura and Julia. When Harriss was diagnosed with FALS, which is the
hereditary form of ALS or Lou Gehrig's Disease he continued to work until he was
forced to retire due to the debilitating effects of his illness. The amazing Tracey School
family responded to Harriss the best way they knew how; to bring him the help and
happiness he had given them. They held fundraisers to train and purchase a service dog,
for him.” Hennessy” improved his quality of life and brought him so much joy. Harriss
will always be remembered by all who knew and loved him for his contagious smile and
love of life.
In addition to his daughters, Laura and Julia, he is survived by his mother, Lee Goldstein
Weiss, his brother Blair and sister-in-law Leslie of Peterborough, NH, and Cindy his
loving companion,loyal confidante and extraordinary caregiver. His Uncle William,
Aunt Pam, cousins Hayden, Corey and Mallory Bates also survive him. He was
predeceased by his father, Leslie B. Weiss.
A  celebration of his life will be held on Aug.12 at 11 AM at The Bunk House in
Cranbury Park, Grumman Avenue, Norwalk, CT.   Interment will be private.
