Francis J. Pettit, Sr.

Winsted:  Francis J. Pettit, Sr. 89, passed away at home, on Tuesday, November 1, 2016.  He was the husband of the late Jeanne (Congdon) Pettit who died in 2012.  Born in Jamaica, Queens, NY, he was the son of the late James and Emily (Johnson) Pettit and had lived here since 1956.  He was a graduate of St. Francis Prep School in NY, was an Army veteran of WW II and was a communicant of St. Joseph Church for many years.  Frank is survived by his  four children, James (Catherine) Pettit of Bethlehem, Francis (Ellen) Pettit of Winsted, Jeanne (Justin) Fox of Windsor and Ann (Peter) Boucher of Vancouver, WA; a sister, Loretta Doscher of Richmond Hill, NY; 10 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.  Frank was predeceased by two brothers, Aloysius and James J. Pettit and two sisters, Julia and Emily Pettit.  The Pettit family would like to thank the entire staff of Foothills Visiting Nurses for the wonderful care they gave Frank in his final illness. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 5, at 11:00 AM at St. Joseph Church in Winsted.  Friends may call at the Maloney Funeral Home 55 Walnut Street one hour prior to mass.  Burial will follow in St. Joseph new Cemetery.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Foothills VNA and Homecare, Inc. 32 Union Street, Winsted, CT 06098 or to St. Joseph Church.  To leave an online condolence, please visit www.maloneyfuneral.com.
