Charlotte G. Ingersoll

December 17, 1926 ~ October 21, 2015 (age 88) 88 Years Old

New Bedford, MA:  The Ingersoll family is saddened to announce the passing of their mother, Charlotte G. Ingersoll on October 21 following 88 wonderful years.  Born and raised in Fitchburg, MA, Charlotte was the daughter of Paul and Amelia Bean Gressnich.  She lost a brother, Paul Jr. in his infancy and her mother when she was a young teen.  But she and her father, to whom she had a life-long devotion, persevered.  During the war years, Charlotte worked as a medical secretary and in a hospital at Fort Devens, met her love and husband of 43 years Stanley Ingersoll, who passed away in 1989.  Together, they settled in Barkhamsted and soon moved to Winsted.  A dutiful housewife of the 50's, Charlotte raised three children: Donna who now lives with husband Ray Gardiner in Olney, MD, Paula with husband Tom Cabral of Fairhaven, MA and Stanley Jr. (Lee) who lives in Windsor, CT with his wife Joan Danziger.  In the early 60's, the Ingersoll family moved to Manchester, CT where Charlotte began a fulfilling career as an executive assistant at Cigna.  For the past 24 years her journey continued with friend and companion Edwin Meyer of Worcester, MA with whom she shared homes in Venice, FL and Dennis, MA.  The Cape was always her favorite place though.  Charlotte loved traveling, her church, the Word Jumble, the Red Sox, a glass of Chardonnay and above all her family.  This now includes 8 grandchildren, Nicole Beatty, Brian Conopask, Chris and Kevin Cabral, Melissa Price, Todd Ingersoll, Emelia Schned and Aran Gillette along with 12 great grandchildren.  The entire family is most grateful to the staff of the Oaks and Beacon Hospice for their loving and compassionate care when it was most needed.  A service celebrating Charlotte's life will be held on November 7, 2015, 11 am at Pleasant Valley United Methodist Church and the adjacent Riverside Cemetery where she will be laid to rest alongside her husband.  In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the charity of your choice.  To leave an online condolence, please visit www.maloneyfuneral.com.
